A massive congratulations to a team of six from Edrington-Beam Suntory UK who, along with colleagues from our shareholder, Edrington, took on the EPIC Ride in Spain over the weekend.
Cycling an impressive 216km from Malaga to Jerez across two days, 52 riders climbed over 3,500m - raising over an absolutely incredible £100,000 (and counting) for AFANAS, a charity in Jerez, Spain, that specialises in the care of mentally handicapped people of all ages. Given that Edrington sources its sherry oak casks exclusively from Jerez, it was fitting to raise vital funds to support such a valued charity in the local community.
Edrington organises EPIC (Edrington Philanthropists in Cycling) events for its employees across the world each year, giving them the opportunity to raise money for global causes close to their hearts as part of its 'Giving More' programme.
This was a great feat of endurance, even for the most seasoned of cyclists, so a huge congratulations to Jo Patten, Ian Waddington, Gemma Bruce, Neville Ross, Zander Muir and Moira Jacques!
According to the all-important event stats, 25kg of cake and cereal bars were consumed, along with almost 200 bananas - some well-deserved fuel!
The Edrington-Beam Suntory UK charity committee will also fund match each of our riders to double their personal totals.
Well done again - and we hope the aching limbs wear off soon!
