The 42, an exquisite single malt from The Glenrothes, launches globally today. The brand's vibrant masterpiece has been inspired by the vivid landscape of its Speyside home, The Glenrothes Estate.
A limited release of just over 1,000 bottles, it is the 2nd oldest whisky to be released by The Glenrothes and one of the first to be created by Master Whisky Maker, Laura Rampling.
The whisky is a union of just four exceptional casks that were filled with new make spirit at The Glenrothes Distillery on 13th May, 1980. Over 42 years the spirit matured alongside the ever-changing colours and ever-evolving landscape of The Glenrothes Estate and this terrain is represented on the bold, contoured pack that houses the whisky and shines through in the vibrant flavour profile of the whisky itself. A new crystal decanter interpretation of The Glenrothes bottles holds the whisky, with cuts inspired by the oak staves of our casks and crowned by an elegant crystal stopper.
The 42 boasts an intensely aromatic fragrance, distinctly sweet taste, yet a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Bottled at natural colour, like all The Glenrothes whiskies, its naturally deep amber tone is a result of the four decades’ long maturation in oak casks. It also parallels the richness of colour present in the Estate surroundings.
Wendy Espie, Senior Brand Manager - NPD, said: “Our approach to The 42 Year Old was bringing colour to life in the perfect moment to create a vibrant masterpiece. The 42 is particularly notable as it paves the way for our new exclusively prestige whisky range over the coming years.”
The 42 captures a true moment in time, that celebrates generations of excellence, honours patience, and evokes the vitality of The Glenrothes, both in appearance and taste.
